New beginnings...

Where to start...
This summer has been incredible so far-amazing, full of new adventures, exhausting, and so much more. I'm currently living in Houston with Michelle, Jonathan, and Brayden and interning with the kids ministry at Second Baptist Church. Last week was kids camp, and Lesley (another intern), a mom, and I had 15 upcoming 4th grade girls. It was a crazy crazy week, but they were such a blessing. Tonight we had our Wednesday night stuff at church, and seven of my girls from camp were there. They usually don't come, but all during camp I told them they had to come and see me.
We'll see how the rest of the summer turns out! I love it here! :)

Happy birthday Rooms!

It is now officially Rainey's birthday! God has so blessed me with Rainey. She is always making me laugh, even though it's often not on purpose :) It amazes me how much energy she has and how she is able to do all the things she does. Thanks Rainey for being such an amazing friend! Love you!

New year

It's a new year! New year, new classes, new things happening everywhere. I'm so excited for this year and everything that it has to offer. A few things happened that prevent me from applying to the Health Sciences Center for next fall, but I'm relying on God that it is His will for me. Luckily one of my best friends is needing to go an extra year before applying as well. I'm trying to focus on the positive things as this is a major upset and totally threw off my plans. I've toyed with the idea of going to school and the fall and doing something exciting in the spring. Unfortunately, my parents didn't seem to appreciate that idea too much. It has always been my dream to be Belle from Beauty and the Beast, and I think it would be SO much fun to work at Disney World. Of course, this is just a dream and sadly will most likely not ever happen. But---this past weekend, my sorority had a date party called Date-a-Theta. The theme was famous couples, so my date and I went as Beauty and the Beast(he was the Beast after changing back into the prince). He even wore a wig to look more like the prince.

Two of my roomies! Beyonce, Belle, & Pebbles

It was such a fun date party! I'm so blessed to have such good friends. All growing up, the people who drank and did drugs and all sorts of things were the minority-at least at my school. Being at OU (which I absolutely love) it blows my mind that there are so few people with the same morals as me, compared to how many live their life so differently. That's why it is so refreshing to be around such great people all the time.

Another person I am so blessed with is Ali. Ali and I worked at Kanakuk together this past summer. We were both kidsitters and really hit it off. The more we've gotten to know each other, the more we've realized how much alike we are. It's crazy-we are like the same person. Thank the Lord she goes to school in the city! She is such a blessing, and I love being able to talk to her and know that she completely understands me.
Halloween
Last night, a crazy snow storm hit, and today was a snow day! Tomorrow is too! I have been ridiculously lazy, so I'm determined to be somewhat productive tomorrow.  Well that's all for now. I will do better this semester at blogging. Enjoy your snow day!

School is back is session

School has started back up again, and we are actually over half way through the first semester. It has flown by so fast. I'm living with three of my closest friends in an apartment a little off campus, and it has been so great. My favorite thing is just hanging out in the living room and talking with them at the end of the day. We always end up dying laughing, and it is so wonderful. We are all four so different, but it works out really well. They encourage me in so many ways, and they are all such blessings in my life in their own way.
My wonderful roomies
Theta is another huge blessing in my life. I'm constantly encouraged by my Theta sisters, and I am sooo thankful for them. As a sophomore, I got a little this year...but I lucked out and was able to get two littles! They are two of the sweetest girls I know, and I love them so much! I'm so excited to be able to go through college with them.
My littles!
My big and I with my littles
One of my littles is actually waaay ahead of schedule and plans on applying to the Health Sciences Center next semester with me. It would be so fun to study Speech Pathology with her and a couple more of my friends hoping to go into the field. One of my very best friends is thinking about switching to Speech Pathology, which would also be so fun!
Football is another really fun part of going to school here. I was raised to be a big Sooner fan, and I love going to every game. One of my roommates is on pom, and my big and g-big are cheerleaders. It is fun to see them do what they love down on the sidelines, along with several more of my friends. Despite the football game this past Saturday, OU has done really well so far. We were #1 before the game, which is super exciting. I went to OU/tx this year with a bunch of Thetas, and it was such a blast. It was a crazy weekend with several unexpected bumps in the road, but overall, it was really fun-AND we won!!
Rainey and I at the game
Classes are hard, but that is to be expected. Since I haven't blogged in awhile, hopefully the pictures will somewhat make up for it. But it's time to work on some homework now. Love you all!

Gimme some summa

Wow-it's already July!!! That is so crazy. Where has summer gone? I'll be moving in to my new apartment with three of the most amazing girls in one month!

This summer has been so amazing so far. I had the amazing opportunity to be a leader at beach retreat with Michelle and Jonathan and their high school ministry at Second Baptist Church in Houston, TX. It was incredible to witness what amazing things they have done at that church. The high school ministry has grown so much, and God has been very faithful. It was so fun to see how much all the students love them and to be able to claim them as my family :) I had an incredible group of 7 girls who just finished their freshman year in high school. I learned so much from them, and it was such a fun week because of those girls. There was another leader in our group, Caitlin, who is the same age as me, and we had a blast together. I still talk with my girls a lot, and it has been so great to see them continue to seek after God even after camp has ended.

For the past week or so, I have been at Kanakuk. It is an amazing Christian camp organization. I am at K-2-which is one of the camps, and it has been a blast so far. It took a few days to get into the swing of things, but I love it. It is a great place to just go, get away from the outside world, and seek after God. There is an emphasis on sports, and the campers choose a specialty and get to work on enhancing their skills in that sport during the day. I am actually babysitting the women's director's daughter. She turns 13 next week, so I'm not really babysitting her-more like just hanging out with her. She is a mess and is pretty funny. We are pretty similar in the fact that we love to dance and swim, love the Lord, and have the same sarcastic sense of humor. I am on my time off right now, enjoying using my computer and phone. I'm enjoying Panera and their free wifi, that is enabling me to catch up on the Bachelorette and watch clips of So You Think You Can Dance :)
I'll be at kamp for a few more weeks, and I'm so excited for what all God has in store for me.

Be praying that God will continue to move in amazing ways at Kamp. He has done some incredible things already!!

Sophomore year, here I come!

I am officially a sophomore in college. Wow.
Let me say that again-I am officially a sophomore in college!
That is so crazy! I knew this would be a crazy year, full of new friends, hard classes, and crazy experiences, but I had no idea how incredible it would be. First semester was insane. I had no idea what to expect, and I was swept up in all the countless opportunities to get involved. I pledged Kappa Alpha Theta, and that was by far one of the most amazing experiences ever. I have been so incredibly blessed by all of my sisters. Through Theta, I have met some of the greatest girls ever, and I know I will be lifelong friends with a lot of them. Saying goodbye to several of them today was so hard. We are all doing such different things and will be separated for the summer, but I'm so excited to write letters with them while I'm away at camp. Luckily, a lot of my friends are working at Kanakuk, so at least some of us will be together.
I still can't believe that freshman year is already over. God has blessed me in so many ways, and I'm so excited for the next several years. It has definitely been a year of ups and downs-oh boy how true that is. I definitely didn't expect to have a lot of the things happen that did happen, but I don't regret it. (And just to clear things up, in case you're wondering what I mean by regrets-I did not get drunk or even drink a sip of alcohol, which I am very proud of)
Tomorrow morning, my brother is graduating from OU with a degree in HES-Health and Exercise Science. I am so proud of all that he's done! He has worked so hard this year, and I'm so excited for him.
Hopefully I'll update a little more this next week. :)
